Red, White & Boulder: Your 4th of July Weekend Game Plan
If you’ve lived in Boulder County for more than five minutes, you know we do summer a little differently here. Between the mountain views, bike traffic that somehow rivals car traffic, and enough sunscreen to stock a small pharmacy, Independence Day weekend is kind of our thing.
Whether you’re planning to spend the weekend paddleboarding, hiking, grilling, attending a parade, or simply trying not to burn the burgers, there are plenty of ways to celebrate around Boulder County.
Here are a few local events worth adding to your holiday weekend lineup:
🇺🇸 Boulder’s 4th of July Celebration
The city will once again host its annual community celebration featuring live entertainment, family activities, food vendors, and the return of the popular drone light show over the Boulder Reservoir. It’s a great option for families and anyone who enjoys a little less smoke and a little more technology.
🎆 Longmont’s Fourth of July Celebration
Longmont knows how to throw a party. Expect a full day of festivities, including a parade, live music, food vendors, family-friendly activities, and fireworks after dark. Bring a chair, some sunscreen, and your best patriotic attire.
🥞 Lafayette’s July 4th Festival
Small-town charm is on full display in Lafayette. The annual celebration includes a pancake breakfast, parade, community activities, and plenty of opportunities to run into neighbors you haven’t seen since the last community event.
🎵 Lyons & Mountain Town Festivities
If you’d rather trade crowds for mountain-town vibes, Lyons offers live music, local food, and plenty of opportunities to enjoy the holiday at a slightly more relaxed pace. Bonus points if you can find a shady spot along the river.
🌠Backyard BBQ Olympics
Not technically an official event, but let’s be honest—many of us will be participating. Categories include:
- Most overcooked hot dog
- Best attempt at cornhole
- Fastest disappearing bag of chips
- Arguing about who forgot the ice
Competition is fierce.
A Friendly Holiday Reminder
As you celebrate, remember that Colorado’s dry conditions can create increased wildfire risk. Check local regulations before lighting fireworks and always follow fire restrictions in your area.
From all of us at The Colorado Group, we wish you a safe, fun, and relaxing Independence Day weekend. Whether you’re watching a parade, enjoying a neighborhood BBQ, exploring Boulder County, or simply taking a well-earned break, we hope your holiday is filled with good company, great weather, and only the appropriate amount of ketchup-related controversy.
Happy 4th of July, Boulder County! 🇺🇸
The Colorado Group offices will be closed Friday, July 3, in observance of Independence Day. We’ll be back and ready to help on Monday, July 6.
