The Boulder Rotary – Boulder County Service Above Self Award.

 Nominations are sought from the community.

Who:

The Boulder Rotary Club sponsors the annual Service Above Self Award. The award has been established to recognize Boulder County residents who best exemplify Rotary’s motto of Service Above Self  “i.e. the community service the individual performs above and beyond their normal role”   2022 focus – Volunteering.  In addition, one student will be selected to receive the award.  Student nominees should be between the ages of 14 and 21. 

What: 

You are invited to nominate a candidate for the Service Above Self Award.   The deadline for nominations to be received and considered is February 28, 2022.          

The Award is presented by Boulder Rotary to recognize a Boulder County Resident (employee) or unpaid (volunteer) who has shown extraordinary service to the community within their organization or to other community service groups.  Outstanding achievement consistent with the ideals of Rotary as expressed in the Service Above Self motto of Rotary: “belief that Rotarians would put their duty to help others before their own needs”

The winner will receive a cash award of $ 1,000.00 that will be donated to the non-profit of their choice.  Runner-up awards will also be presented.  A YouTube video of the winners non-profit will be created and displayed on the Boulder Rotary website honoring the recipient.  The award will be announced throughout Rotary and local newspapers.  The award ceremony will take place on May 6, 2022 at a dinner reception 

Criteria for the Award

The recipient:

  • An individual who lives or works in Boulder County or volunteers to an organization based in Boulder County.
  • Is making a significant contribution to building a culture of community service and volunteerism.
  • Exemplifies ethical behavior and leadership in the community.
